The two halves of this wine ripened in two climates 55 km apart. At Verdú the Garnatxa swung 15.2 °C between day and night and spent 589 hours above 90 % humidity; at Vilobí, closer to the coast, the Merlot swung 11.4 °C and spent 797. Verdú supplies the structure and the acid, Vilobí the flesh — the blend is not a stylistic gesture but two different exposures put together. The table records the Verdú half; the section below sets both lots side by side.

Block figures are the on-site probes at 15-minute resolution: air temperature, and soil temperature and plant-available water at 15, 35 and 50 cm. The probes carry no hygrometer and no rain gauge, so humidity and rainfall come from XEMA station C7 at Tàrrega, 6.2 km away, at half-hourly resolution. Day and night are taken from solar elevation, not from a light sensor. The season runs from 1 April to the day the fruit was picked.

In June, Verdú averaged 29.2 / 21.4°C by day and night against 27.7 / 19.9°C at Vilobí. Night humidity was 61.2% at Verdú and 79.1% at Vilobí; in August it was 62.9% and 81.6%. The Vilobí Merlot then received 39.9 mm of rain in its final 30 days, against 21.0 mm for Verdú Garnatxa. Separate fruit analyses determine how these different heat, humidity and rainfall histories enter the 50:50 blend.
